VibeFox Square for Adobe Commerce

Overview

VibeFox Square Gateway adds credit and debit card payments through Square to Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce. At the payment step the customer enters the card in a secure Square card form shown under the payment method (Square Web Payments SDK) and clicks Place Order. Magento places the order in Pending Payment, and your server charges the single-use card token through the Square Payments API. Card data never reaches your store. The order is invoiced only after Square confirms the payment, and the order e-mail is sent only then.

It suits Square sellers in the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, the UK, Ireland, France and Spain who want to take card payments on their own checkout page. The module takes one-time card payments, captured immediately. It has no saved cards, subscriptions, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App Pay, Afterpay or Square gift cards, no authorize-only payments, no Square webhooks and no payments for orders created in the Admin.

Key features

3-D Secure / SCA: buyer verification runs when the card is tokenized, with the order total, the currency and the billing address passed to Square.

Paid only when Square confirms: the invoice with the Square payment ID is created only for a COMPLETED payment of exactly the order total, currency, order reference and location. Anything unexpected puts the order On Hold with a note and without an invoice.

No double charges: one payment attempt per cart at a time, idempotent requests, and an attempt whose answer was lost is looked up at Square instead of charging the card again.

Credentials and currency check: the access token and location are checked with Square when you save. The method is hidden for checkouts in a currency the Square location cannot charge.

Online refunds with Credit Memo: full and partial refunds through the standard Magento Credit Memo of the invoice with Refund, always in the environment, location and currency of the actual payment. Orders On Hold with a captured payment can be refunded from the order page.

Clear messages: customers see short messages (declined, wrong CVV, 3-D Secure required). Errors and warnings are always logged, without keys or card data.

Standard Magento settings: all settings are on the standard Payment Methods configuration page, with encrypted access tokens, sandbox and live credentials, countries and minimum and maximum order totals, and a log viewer.

Requirements

Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce 2.4.6 to 2.4.9 (your own server or Adobe Commerce on cloud infrastructure; not Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service), PHP 8.1 to 8.4. A Square account with an application in the Square Developer Dashboard (Application ID, Access Token, Location ID). The checkout currency must be the currency of your Square location: USD, CAD, AUD, JPY, GBP or EUR. HTTPS on the storefront. A VibeFox license key from vibefox.net (one key per domain).
