Overview
VibeFox Flutterwave Payment adds Flutterwave payments to Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce through the Flutterwave hosted checkout page (Flutterwave Standard, API v3). The customer chooses Flutterwave at the payment step and clicks Place Order. Magento places the order in Pending Payment, and the customer goes to the Flutterwave page, pays with any method enabled on your Flutterwave account, such as cards, bank transfer, USSD or mobile money, and comes back to your store. The order is invoiced only after Flutterwave confirms the payment, and the order e-mail is sent only then.
It suits stores in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, East and Francophone Africa and stores that accept international cards. The order is charged in the order currency. The module takes one-time payments only. It has no inline or modal checkout on your site, no saved cards, subscriptions, split payments or payment plans, no payments for orders created in the Admin, and refunds made in the Flutterwave dashboard are not synced back to Magento.
Key features
Hosted checkout: a payment is created for the order total in the order currency, with the precision of the currency (XOF, XAF, UGX, RWF and others have no decimals). You can limit the payment options shown on the Flutterwave page.
Paid only when Flutterwave confirms: neither the return URL nor the webhook body is trusted. Every payment is read again from Flutterwave on your server, and the order is invoiced only when the reference belongs to the order, the status is successful and the amount and currency match. A mismatch puts the order On Hold without an invoice.
Webhook with a secret hash and a cron check: webhooks are accepted only with your secret hash. They confirm the payment even when the customer closes the browser, and the Magento cron checks open payments every 5 minutes, so a lost webhook does not lose paid orders.
No double processing: repeated webhooks and returns never invoice an order twice, and one cart is paid only once. A late or second payment is kept for your review and can be refunded from the order.
Pending methods handled: a bank transfer, USSD or mobile money payment that is still pending keeps the order in Pending Payment until Flutterwave confirms it. A declined or cancelled payment cancels the waiting order and gives the cart back.
Online refunds with Credit Memo: full and partial refunds through the standard Magento Credit Memo of the invoice with Refund, in the currency Flutterwave charged and with the key of the mode the payment was made in. Pending refunds are reconciled from the order after you check them in the Flutterwave dashboard.
Test and live: separate secret keys. A test key in live mode, or a live key in test mode, hides the payment method and shows a warning.
Standard Magento settings: all settings are on the standard Payment Methods configuration page, with encrypted keys, the webhook URL shown on the page, countries and minimum and maximum order totals, a Flutterwave payment history on the order page and an optional log without keys or customer data.
