VibeFox PayPal for Adobe Commerce

Overview

VibeFox PayPal Gateway adds PayPal Smart Payment Buttons to the checkout of Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce. At the payment step the customer chooses PayPal, clicks the PayPal button and approves the payment in the PayPal window with a PayPal account or another funding source PayPal offers. Magento then places the order in Pending Payment, and your server reads the PayPal order, checks its status, amount and currency and only then captures or authorizes the payment. The order is invoiced only after PayPal confirms the payment, and the order e-mail is sent only then.

It suits stores that want to accept PayPal with their own PayPal REST API app, in sandbox for tests and in live mode for real payments. The module has no PayPal webhooks, so disputes and refunds made in the PayPal account are not synced to Magento. It has no Pay Later messages, no card fields, no saved payment methods or subscriptions, no PayPal buttons on product or cart pages and no payments for orders created in the Admin.

Key features

Server-side verification: status, amount, currency and ownership of the PayPal order are checked before any money is taken. One PayPal payment can pay only one cart. If the order total no longer matches the approval, nothing is captured, the order is cancelled and the cart is restored.

Capture or authorize: charge the customer at once, or only reserve the funds and capture them later with the standard Magento invoice (Capture Online) or release them with Void.

No double charges: capture and refund requests are idempotent, a lost PayPal answer is read again instead of charging again, and a per-cart lock stops double submits. Pending captures can be checked again by the customer and on the order page.

Online refunds with Credit Memo: full and partial refunds through the standard Magento Credit Memo of the invoice with Refund, up to the amount PayPal actually charged, sent to the mode (sandbox or live) of the payment.

24 PayPal currencies: HUF, JPY and TWD amounts are sent without decimals, as PayPal requires. The payment method is hidden for unsupported currencies.

PayPal block on the order page: every PayPal attempt of the order with its IDs, mode, expected and charged amounts, refund history and a link to the payment in your PayPal account; a separate refund for payments on hold after a mismatch.

Order status of your choice: Processing, Complete for virtual orders or On Hold for manual review after a successful payment.

Standard Magento settings: all settings are on the standard Payment Methods configuration page, with encrypted secrets, countries and minimum and maximum order totals, and an optional log without credentials or customer data. Works alongside the PayPal module that comes with Magento.

Requirements

Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce 2.4.6 to 2.4.9 (your own server or Adobe Commerce on cloud infrastructure; not Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service), PHP 8.1 to 8.4. A PayPal Business account with a REST API app (Client ID and Secret) for sandbox and/or live. A store currency supported by PayPal. A VibeFox license key from vibefox.net (one key per domain).
