VibeFox Barion for WooCommerce — Help

Requirements

WordPress: 6.0 or later.

WooCommerce: 7.0 or later, installed and active. Without WooCommerce the plugin shows a notice in the admin area and the payment method is not loaded.

PHP: 8.0 or later.

Barion shop: you need the POSKey (secret key) of your shop and the e-mail address of the Barion wallet that receives the payments. Both are in the Barion portal: secure.barion.com for live, secure.test.barion.com for test, under My stores and your shop. Test and live have different credentials.

Currency: the store currency must be HUF, EUR, USD or CZK. For other currencies the payment method is hidden at checkout.

Reachable store: Barion calls your store after each payment, so the site must be reachable from the internet, without maintenance mode, a firewall or basic authentication in front of /wc-api/.

VibeFox license key: bought on vibefox.net. One key works on one domain.

Installation

1. In WordPress go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, choose the plugin ZIP file and click Install Now. You can also upload the wcp_barion_gateway folder to /wp-content/plugins/ by FTP.

2. Click Activate.

3. Open the settings: WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > Barion > Manage, or click Settings under the plugin name on the Plugins page.

4. Enter your VibeFox license key in the license block at the top of the page and click Activate.

5. Enter the test POSKey and test wallet e-mail, keep Test Mode on and turn on Enable/Disable. Place a test order.

6. When everything works, enter the live credentials and untick Test Mode.

The callback URL is sent to Barion automatically with every payment. Nothing has to be configured in the Barion portal.

Configuration

All settings are on one page: WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > Barion. If the store currency is not supported, the page says so in red in the Barion shop credentials section and lists the supported currencies; the payment method is then hidden at checkout.

General

Enable/Disable: Enable Barion Payment turns the payment method on or off. Default: off.

Title: the payment method name customers see at checkout. Default: Barion.

Description: the text shown under the payment method at checkout. Default: Pay securely with Barion — card, Barion Wallet, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Barion shop credentials

Get your POSKey and wallet e-mail in the Barion portal: secure.barion.com (live) or secure.test.barion.com (test), My stores, your shop. This section also shows the callback URL, for example https://your-site/wc-api/barion_payment_callback/. It is sent to Barion with every payment; it only has to be reachable from the internet.

Test Mode: Enable Barion test/sandbox mode. Test mode uses the test credentials below and the Barion sandbox (api.test.barion.com); no real money is charged. Default: on. Untick it to take real payments.

Test POSKey: the secret key (POSKey) of your shop in the Barion test system (secure.test.barion.com, My stores).

Test Payee Email: the e-mail address of your Barion test wallet that receives the test payments.

Live POSKey: the secret key (POSKey) of your shop in the Barion live system (secure.barion.com, My stores).

Live Payee Email: the e-mail address of your Barion wallet that receives the payments.

Orders

Order Status After Payment: the order status set after a successful, verified payment.

WooCommerce default (Processing): Processing, or Completed when the order contains only virtual downloadable products (default).
Completed: every paid order becomes Completed, in one status change.

Advanced

Logging: Enable debug logging. Logs are saved to WooCommerce > Status > Logs, source wcp_barion_gateway. Secret keys are never logged. Default: off.

Delete Data on Uninstall: Remove the plugin settings when the plugin is deleted. Orders and their Barion payment data are always kept. Default: off.

Checkout

The customer chooses the payment method (by default Barion) and places the order. The plugin starts a Barion payment for the order total in the order currency and sends the customer to the Barion payment page. The order items, shipping, fees and tax are listed on the payment, the customer's billing e-mail is passed as a hint, and the page language follows the store language where Barion supports it.

After paying, the customer returns to your store. Barion also calls the callback URL. Neither request marks the order as paid by itself: the plugin asks Barion for the payment state with your POSKey, and the order is marked paid only after Barion confirms it and the amount and currency match the order. The return link contains the order key, and only payments started for that order are checked.

If the payment succeeded or is still in progress at Barion, the customer lands on the order received page. Otherwise the customer goes back to the checkout and sees Payment was not completed. Please try again. A customer can try again; every attempt is remembered, so a late payment of an earlier attempt still completes the order.

If the payment cannot be started, the customer sees The Barion payment could not be started. Please try again or choose another payment method. Logged-in store managers also see the technical reason. The details go to the log.

The payment method works on the classic checkout and on the Checkout block. It is compatible with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS).

The plugin takes immediate payments only. It has no reservation or delayed capture payments, no WooCommerce Subscriptions or recurring payments, no saved cards, no Barion Pixel and no extra 3-D Secure data; Barion handles 3-D Secure on its payment page.

Orders and refunds

Order statuses

Pending payment: the Barion payment was started and Barion has not confirmed it yet. The order note shows the Barion PaymentId, the amount and, in test mode, (test mode).

Processing or Completed: Barion confirmed the payment. The status follows Order Status After Payment. The order note shows the amount, the PaymentId and the transaction. The transaction ID is the Barion transaction ID.

On hold: Barion reported a different amount or currency than the order total, for example because the order was edited after the payment was started. Check the payment in the Barion portal and complete or refund the order manually.

Cancelled: the latest payment attempt was cancelled or expired at Barion.

Failed: the latest payment attempt failed.

A paid or refunded order is never changed by a later callback. If another payment succeeds for a paid order, a note asks you to check it in the Barion portal and refund it if it is a duplicate.

Refunds

Open the order, click Refund, enter the amount and click Refund via Barion. Full and partial refunds are supported. The refund reason is sent to Barion as a comment. HUF refunds must be whole amounts. The refund is sent in the mode (test or live) the order was paid in, so that mode's POSKey must be set. If Barion does not accept or confirm the refund, WooCommerce shows the error and no refund is recorded. A successful refund is added to the order notes with the Barion transaction and status.

License key

The plugin works with a VibeFox license key from vibefox.net. The license block is at the top of WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > Barion. Paste the key into License key and click Activate. The block shows the status, for example the date the license is active until and your domain. Use Check now to check the status again, Change key to enter another key and Remove key to remove it from this site. The link Manage licenses and domains in your account opens your vibefox.net account.

One key works on one domain. Removing the key from a site does not free its domain slot. Free the slot in your vibefox.net account.

Without an active key, Barion is not shown to customers at checkout. If a payment is started anyway, the customer sees This payment method is not available. Please choose another one. Logged-in store managers still see the payment method, marked (unlicensed — visible to admins only), so you can set up and test the plugin before you buy a key. A reminder appears on the Plugins page and on WooCommerce pages. Existing orders are not affected: payments already started are still confirmed, and refunds work.

When a license expires, the plugin keeps working, but updates and support need a renewal. The status is checked again automatically in the background.

Troubleshooting

Barion does not appear at checkout: check that the license is active, Enable/Disable is on, the current mode has a POSKey and payee e-mail, and the store currency is HUF, EUR, USD or CZK.

The payment went through, but the order stays Pending payment: the order is completed when Barion calls the callback URL or when the customer returns to your store. Make sure the site is reachable from the internet (no maintenance mode, firewall or basic authentication in front of /wc-api/). Check that the POSKey of the mode the order was paid in is correct, because the plugin asks Barion for the payment state with it. Turn on Logging to see the callback.

The callback answers Busy, retry: the order was being processed by the customer's return at the same moment. Barion calls again.

The callback answers API error: the store could not read the payment state from Barion. Check the POSKey of the mode the order was paid in.

An order is On hold with a mismatch note: the amount or currency Barion reports differs from the order total. Check the payment in the Barion portal and complete or refund it manually.

Why can't I refund 10.50 HUF: Barion processes HUF without decimals. Enter a whole amount.

The refund says the POSKey for this order's mode is not configured: the order was paid in test or live mode, and that mode's POSKey is empty. Enter it and try again.

The license block shows an error: follow the message in the block. For example, if the key is already used on another domain, free a slot in your vibefox.net account and click Check now. If the site address changed, click Check now to activate the key for the new domain. If the license server cannot be reached, the plugin keeps working on the last known status.

Uninstall

Deactivating the plugin keeps all data. To remove it, deactivate and delete it on the Plugins page. The license key and license status of this plugin are always removed. The gateway settings are removed only if Delete Data on Uninstall was on. Otherwise they stay for a later re-install. Orders and their Barion payment data are always kept. Existing orders keep their payment notes and transaction IDs.
