VibeFox Square for WooCommerce

Overview

VibeFox Square Gateway adds credit and debit card payments through Square to WooCommerce. The customer enters the card in a secure Square card form embedded in your checkout (Square Web Payments SDK). Your server receives only a single-use token and charges it through the Square Payments API. Card numbers and security codes never reach your site.

It suits Square sellers in the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, the UK, Ireland, France and Spain who want to take card payments on their own checkout page. The plugin takes one-time card payments, captured immediately. It has no saved cards, subscriptions, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App Pay, Afterpay or Square gift cards, no authorize-only payments and no Square webhooks.

Key features

Card form on your checkout: the Square card form works on the classic checkout, the Checkout block and the Pay for order page.

3-D Secure / SCA: buyer verification runs when the card is tokenized, with the amount, currency and billing contact passed to Square. This is required for sellers in the UK and the EU.

Paid only when Square confirms: the order is marked paid only for a COMPLETED payment of exactly the order total, currency, order reference and location. Anything unexpected puts the order on hold with a note.

No double charges: one payment attempt per order at a time, idempotent requests, and a new attempt after a lost answer first looks up the earlier payment instead of charging the card again.

Correct amounts: zero-decimal currencies such as JPY are sent in whole units, not multiplied by 100.

Refunds: full and partial refunds from the WooCommerce order screen, always sent to the environment and location the payment was made in.

Credentials check on save: the access token, location ID and location currency are checked with Square when you save the settings.

Clear messages: customers see short messages (declined, wrong CVV, 3-D Secure required and others); technical details go to the order notes and the log. HPOS compatible.

Requirements

WordPress 6.0 or later, WooCommerce 7.0 or later, PHP 8.0 or later. A Square account with an application in the Square Developer Dashboard (Application ID, Access Token, Location ID). The store currency must be the currency of your Square location: USD, CAD, AUD, JPY, GBP or EUR. A VibeFox license key from vibefox.net (one key per domain).
