VibeFox MakeCommerce for WooCommerce — Help

Requirements

WordPress: 6.0 or later.

WooCommerce: 7.0 or later, installed and active. Without WooCommerce the plugin refuses to activate.

PHP: 8.0 or later.

Internet access to your site: MakeCommerce sends payment notifications to your store, so the site must be reachable from the internet (HTTPS recommended). A firewall, maintenance mode or basic authentication can block them.

MakeCommerce account: you need the Shop ID and Secret key from the MakeCommerce Merchant Portal (Settings > API). The test and live environments have separate accounts and keys. Which payment methods and currencies are available is defined by your MakeCommerce contract (bank links are in EUR). Currencies with three decimals, such as KWD or BHD, are not offered.

VibeFox license key: bought on vibefox.net. One key works on one domain.

Installation

1. In WordPress go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, choose the plugin ZIP file and click Install Now. You can also upload the wcp_makecommerce_payment folder to /wp-content/plugins/ by FTP.

2. Click Activate.

3. Open the settings: WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > MakeCommerce > Manage, or click Settings under the plugin name on the Plugins page.

4. Enter your VibeFox license key in the license block at the top of the page and click Activate.

5. Enter the Shop ID and Secret key of the test environment and, for real payments, the live keys (see Configuration). Nothing has to be configured in the Merchant Portal.

6. Turn on Enable/Disable. Test a payment with Test mode on, then untick it to accept real payments.

Configuration

All settings are on one page: WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > MakeCommerce. Above the fields the page shows Test mode is on: payments are created in the MakeCommerce test environment and no real money is charged. while test mode is on. It warns you when the method is enabled but the Shop ID or Secret key of the current environment is empty, and when the store currency cannot be charged by MakeCommerce. In both cases the method is hidden at checkout. In the list of payment methods, MakeCommerce is marked as needing setup until the current environment has its keys. Spaces are removed from the keys on save.

General

Enable/Disable: Enable MakeCommerce payments turns the payment method on or off. Default: off.

Title: the payment method name customers see at checkout. Default: Bank link or card (MakeCommerce).

Description: the text shown under the payment method at checkout. Default: Pay with your Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian or Finnish bank, or by card. You will be redirected to the secure MakeCommerce payment page.

MakeCommerce account

The Shop ID and Secret key are in the MakeCommerce Merchant Portal under Settings > API. The test portal and the live portal have separate accounts and keys. The section has links to both portals and to the MakeCommerce sign-up page.

Test mode: Use the MakeCommerce test environment (no real money is charged). New payments are created in the selected environment with its keys. Every order remembers the environment it was paid in: status checks and refunds always go there. A line TEST MODE — MakeCommerce test environment, no real money is charged. is shown at checkout. Default: on.

Test Shop ID: the Shop ID of your test account, in the form xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx.

Test Secret key: the Secret key of your test account.

Live Shop ID: the Shop ID of your live account.

Live Secret key: the Secret key of your live account.

Payment notifications

Nothing has to be configured in the Merchant Portal. Every transaction carries its own return, cancel and notification URLs, based on the address shown in this section (it looks like https://your-site/wc-api/wc_mkc_payment/) with the order number and order key added. MakeCommerce sends a signed message to the notification URL (server to server) and with the customer's browser to the return or cancel URL. The signature is checked with the Secret key of the environment the transaction was created in. Messages without a valid signature are rejected.

The plugin handles these MakeCommerce transaction statuses:

COMPLETED: the payment was made. The transaction is re-checked through the API, and the order is marked paid when the amount and currency match.
APPROVED: the payment was approved and waits for completion. A note is added.
PENDING: the payment is being processed by the bank or card network. The order waits.
CANCELLED, EXPIRED: the customer cancelled the payment or it expired. An unpaid order is marked Failed.
PART_REFUNDED, REFUNDED: the transaction was refunded at MakeCommerce. A note is added; the order status is not changed.

The payment is also confirmed when the customer returns to the store. If the customer comes back without a signed message, the plugin asks the MakeCommerce API for the status.

Advanced

Debug log: Log API calls and payment notifications writes details to WooCommerce > Status > Logs, source wcp_makecommerce_payment. Errors are always logged. Keys and customer data are never logged. Default: off.

Delete data: Delete the gateway settings and logs when the plugin is deleted. Orders and their payment notes are always kept. Deactivating the plugin never deletes anything. Default: off.

Checkout

The customer chooses the payment method (by default Bank link or card (MakeCommerce)) and places the order. The plugin creates a MakeCommerce transaction for the order total in the order currency and sends the customer to the MakeCommerce payment page. There the customer chooses a bank link or a card. The billing e-mail and country are passed to MakeCommerce, and the page opens in the store language when MakeCommerce supports it (Estonian, English, Latvian, Lithuanian, Finnish, Russian, German, Polish), otherwise in English.

After paying, the customer returns to the order received page of your store. The order is marked paid only after MakeCommerce confirms it: by the signed notification or by the signed return of the customer, with a check of the transaction through the MakeCommerce API.

If the customer cancels on the MakeCommerce page or the payment expires, the customer comes back to the checkout (or to the Pay for order page) with a message, for example The payment was cancelled. You can try again or choose another payment method. or The payment session expired. Please try again. If the payment cannot be confirmed yet, the message is We could not confirm your payment yet. If you completed it, your order will be updated automatically; otherwise please try again. The customer can pay again. An older payment link of the same order still works, and the order cannot be paid twice.

If MakeCommerce cannot start the payment, the customer sees MakeCommerce is temporarily unavailable. Please try again in a moment or choose another payment method. or MakeCommerce could not start the payment for this order. Please choose another payment method or contact us. The technical reason is added to the order notes and the log.

The payment method works on the classic checkout, on the Checkout block and on the Pay for order page. It is compatible with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS).

The bank or card is chosen on the MakeCommerce page, not in your checkout. The plugin has no saved cards, recurring payments or WooCommerce Subscriptions and no MakeCommerce shipping (parcel machines, labels).

Orders and refunds

Order statuses

Pending payment: the customer was sent to MakeCommerce and has not paid yet, or MakeCommerce has not confirmed the payment yet. The order note shows the MakeCommerce transaction, the amount and the environment.

Processing: the payment was confirmed. Orders with only virtual downloadable products become Completed, the WooCommerce default. The order note shows the amount, the transaction, the environment and how it was verified (MakeCommerce API or signed notification). The transaction ID is the MakeCommerce transaction ID.

On hold: the paid amount or currency differed from the order, the amount was missing, the transaction status at MakeCommerce was not final yet, or the payment arrived for a cancelled order. The order note explains it. Such a transaction never pays the order later. Check the transaction in the Merchant Portal and complete or refund the order manually.

Failed: the latest payment of the order was cancelled, expired or failed. The customer can pay again.

If a second payment arrives for an order that is already paid, the order is not changed again. A note asks you to refund the duplicate in the MakeCommerce Merchant Portal.

Check MakeCommerce payment status

On the order screen, choose Check MakeCommerce payment status in the order actions. The plugin asks the MakeCommerce API for the status of the order's transactions (the latest first), applies it and adds a note with the result. Use it when an order stays Pending payment although the customer paid.

Refunds

Open the order, click Refund, enter the amount and click Refund via Bank link or card (MakeCommerce) (the button shows your Title). Full and partial refunds are supported. The refund is sent to the environment the order was paid in (test or live), so that environment's keys must be set. If MakeCommerce does not accept the refund, WooCommerce shows the error, a note is added and no refund is recorded. If MakeCommerce is still processing the payment, the message is MakeCommerce is still processing this payment — try the refund again later. A successful refund is added to the order notes with the MakeCommerce refund ID.

Refunds made in the Merchant Portal arrive with the transaction status and are added to the order notes. They are not recorded as WooCommerce refunds automatically.

License key

The plugin works with a VibeFox license key from vibefox.net. The license block is at the top of WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > MakeCommerce. Paste the key into License key and click Activate. The block shows the status, for example the date the license is active until and your domain. Use Check now to check the status again, Change key to enter another key and Remove key to remove it from this site. The link Manage licenses and domains in your account opens your vibefox.net account.

One key works on one domain. Removing the key from a site does not free its domain slot. Free the slot in your vibefox.net account.

Without an active key, MakeCommerce is not shown to customers at checkout. If a payment is started anyway, the customer sees This payment method is not available. Please choose another one. Logged-in store managers still see the payment method, marked (unlicensed — visible to admins only), so you can set up and test the plugin before you buy a key. A reminder appears on the Plugins page and on WooCommerce pages. Existing orders are not affected: payments already started are still confirmed, and refunds work.

When a license expires, the plugin keeps working, but updates and support need a renewal. The status is checked again automatically in the background.

Troubleshooting

MakeCommerce does not appear at checkout: check that the license is active, Enable/Disable is on and the current environment has its keys: Test Shop ID and Test Secret key in test mode, Live Shop ID and Live Secret key in live mode. Check that the store currency (or the order currency on the Pay for order page) has at most two decimals. The settings page shows a warning for each of these problems.

The payment went through, but the order stays Pending payment: the notifications could not reach the site, for example because of a firewall, maintenance mode or basic authentication. Open the order and run the order action Check MakeCommerce payment status. Check that the keys of the environment the payment was made in are set: the notification is checked with that environment's Secret key, and without it MakeCommerce gets an error and retries.

The order is On hold with a MakeCommerce note: the payment did not match the order (amount, currency, status) or arrived for a cancelled order. Check the transaction in the Merchant Portal and complete or refund the order manually.

Notifications are rejected: a message with a wrong signature, for another order, another shop or a transaction not created for the order is rejected and the order is not changed. Check that the Shop ID and Secret key belong to the same MakeCommerce account and environment.

The customer sees an error when placing the order: open the order notes or turn on Debug log and look at WooCommerce > Status > Logs, source wcp_makecommerce_payment. A currency MakeCommerce cannot charge gives MakeCommerce cannot process payments in and the currency code.

Refund fails with a message about the environment: the order was paid in the test or live environment, and the keys of that environment are not configured. Enter them and try again.

Refund fails with No MakeCommerce transaction ID found for this order: the order has no MakeCommerce transaction. Refund it in the Merchant Portal.

The license block shows an error: follow the message in the block. For example, if the key is already used on another domain, free a slot in your vibefox.net account and click Check now. If the site address changed, click Check now to activate the key for the new domain. If the license server cannot be reached, the plugin keeps working on the last known status.

Uninstall

Deactivating the plugin keeps all data. To remove it, deactivate and delete it on the Plugins page. The license key and license status of this plugin are always removed. The gateway settings and the logs are removed only if Delete data was on. Otherwise they stay for a later re-install. Existing orders keep their payment notes and transaction IDs.
