VibeFox Braintree for PrestaShop

Overview

VibeFox Braintree Gateway adds credit and debit card payments through Braintree (PayPal) to PrestaShop. At the payment step the customer enters the card in the Braintree Drop-in UI, a secure form served by Braintree, right on the checkout page. The card number never reaches your shop; the module only receives a one-time payment token. The order is created only after Braintree accepts the payment, so declined cards leave no unpaid orders.

It suits shops with a Braintree merchant account that want card payments on their own checkout, with 3-D Secure 2 for Strong Customer Authentication in the EEA and UK. The module takes card payments only. It has no saved cards, subscriptions, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay or Google Pay buttons, and no Braintree webhooks: disputes and settlement declines are not synced to PrestaShop.

Key features

Braintree Drop-in UI: the card form is shown inside the payment option on the PrestaShop checkout page, in the language of the shop.

3-D Secure 2: Enabled (failed authentications are blocked) or Required (only payments with liability shift are accepted), with a server-side check of the payment token.

Sale or Authorize only: charge immediately, or reserve the funds and capture or void them later in the Braintree block of the order page.

Order only after Braintree accepts: the charged amount and currency are checked against the cart. A charge in the wrong currency or amount is voided automatically, and the customer is not charged.

No double charges: a per-cart lock and single-use payment tokens make sure a cart is never charged twice. If the card was charged but the order could not be created, the next attempt creates the order without a new charge.

Refunds from the order page: full and partial refunds in the Braintree payment block, in the amount and currency Braintree actually charged. A full refund of a transaction that has not settled yet is done as a void. Refunds, captures and voids use the environment (sandbox or live) of the payment.

Merchant account per currency: optional, for example EUR=mystore_EUR, USD=mystore_USD. Zero-decimal currencies such as JPY and KRW are charged as whole amounts.

Sandbox and live side by side: separate credentials for each environment, a link from the order to the transaction in the Braintree Control Panel, and a log without keys, card or customer data.

Requirements

PrestaShop 8.0 to 9.x, PHP 8.0 or later. A Braintree account with Merchant ID, Public Key and Private Key; 3-D Secure enabled for the account unless you switch it off. No webhook is needed. A VibeFox license key from vibefox.net (one key per domain).
