VibeFox The Courier Guy for OpenCart

Overview

VibeFox The Courier Guy adds The Courier Guy (South Africa) delivery to OpenCart 3 and OpenCart 4. It works with the ShipLogic platform that The Courier Guy runs on and offers two options at checkout: courier delivery to the door and delivery to a TCG locker the customer chooses at the delivery method step. The price is a live ShipLogic rate or comes from your own price table.

It suits South African stores with a The Courier Guy business account. The extension calculates rates and lets customers pick a locker. It does not book shipments, create waybills or labels, or update tracking automatically. Book the parcel in your The Courier Guy portal and enter the reference on the order page.

Key features

Two delivery options: courier to the door and TCG locker, each with its own name and on/off switch on the settings page.

Live courier rates: the cheapest ShipLogic service from your sender address to the customer's address, once the address is complete.

Locker selection: customers see the lockers for their city, can search another city, suburb or postal code, and must choose one before they continue. The choice is checked on the server.

Locker and tracking on the order: the locker is added to the shipping method of the order, so it appears in the admin, the customer's order page, the invoice and the order e-mails. A The Courier Guy panel on the admin order page holds the tracking reference, which the customer sees in the account and in order status e-mails.

Currency and tax: ShipLogic quotes in rand. Other store currencies use your ZAR conversion rate. With a tax class, the rate without VAT is used, so VAT is not charged twice.

Price table: prices by country and weight tier, per order or per item, plus a fallback cost, for addresses outside South Africa and whenever there is no live rate.

Resilient checkout: rates are cached for 1 hour, lockers for 6 hours, failures for 10 minutes. If ShipLogic is down, the price table is used and a locker order can still be placed.

Clear settings page: sections for the API key, live rates, sender address, price table, conditions and availability, one Save button, JSON import and export, and a debug log viewer.

Requirements

OpenCart 3.0.x (tested on 3.0.5.0) or OpenCart 4.0.2 and later (tested on 4.1.0.3), PHP 8.0 or later. One download has the packages for both versions. A ShipLogic API key from your The Courier Guy courier portal for live rates and lockers. The price table works without it. A VibeFox license key from vibefox.net (one key per domain).
