VibeFox Square for OpenCart

Overview

VibeFox Square Gateway adds credit and debit card payments through Square to OpenCart 3 and OpenCart 4. At the Confirm Order step the customer enters the card in a secure Square card form (Square Web Payments SDK). Your server receives only a single-use token and charges it through the Square Payments API. Card data never reaches your store. OpenCart creates the order before the payment, but the order gets a status only after Square has answered, so declined attempts stay missing orders.

It suits Square sellers who want to take card payments on their own checkout page, in the currency of their Square location: USD, CAD, AUD, JPY, GBP or EUR. The extension takes one-time card payments, captured immediately. It has no saved cards, subscriptions, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App Pay, Afterpay or Square gift cards, no authorize-only payments and no Square webhooks.

Key features

3-D Secure / SCA: buyer verification runs when the card is tokenized, with the order total, the currency and the payment address passed to Square.

Paid only when Square confirms: the order gets the paid status only for a COMPLETED payment of exactly the order total, currency, order reference and location. Anything unexpected puts the order in a review status with a note.

No double charges: one payment attempt per cart at a time, idempotent requests, and an attempt whose answer was lost is looked up at Square instead of charging the card again.

Credentials and currency check: the access token and location are checked with Square on save. The method is hidden for orders in a currency the Square location cannot charge.

Refunds from the order page: full and partial refunds in the VibeFox Square Gateway tab of the order, always in the environment, location, amount and currency of the actual payment. A full refund sets the Refunded status.

Square tab on the order page: payment ID with a Square Dashboard link, card, receipt, refund history and notes.

Clear messages: customers see short messages (declined, wrong CVV, 3-D Secure required). Errors are always logged, without keys or card data.

OpenCart conditions: your own order statuses, geo zone, minimum order total and sort order.

Requirements

OpenCart 3.0.x (tested on 3.0.5.0) or OpenCart 4.0.2 and later (tested on 4.1.0.3), PHP 8.0 or later. One download has the packages for both versions. A Square account with an application in the Square Developer Dashboard (Application ID, Access Token, Location ID). The order currency must be the currency of your Square location: USD, CAD, AUD, JPY, GBP or EUR. A VibeFox license key from vibefox.net (one key per domain).
