VibeFox Pesapal for OpenCart

Overview

VibeFox Pesapal Pay Gateway adds Pesapal payments to OpenCart 3 and OpenCart 4. It connects to the Pesapal API 3.0. At the last checkout step the customer clicks Confirm Order, is sent to the Pesapal payment page and pays with M-Pesa, Airtel Money, MTN, card, bank or another method Pesapal offers in the customer's country. Card data never touches your site. OpenCart creates the order before the payment, but the order gets a status only after Pesapal confirms the payment, so unpaid attempts stay missing orders.

It suits stores in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe that sell in KES, UGX, TZS, ZMW, RWF or USD and have a Pesapal merchant account. Only the consumer key and secret are needed. The extension has no refunds from the order page (refund in the Pesapal dashboard), no saved cards, no subscriptions or recurring payments, no payment form on your own site and no currency conversion.

Key features

Paid only when Pesapal confirms: Pesapal notifications and the customer return carry no payment data, so the extension never trusts them. Each time it asks Pesapal for the transaction status with an authenticated server-to-server request. OpenCart then sends its usual order e-mails.

Amount and currency check: the order is marked paid only when Pesapal reports Completed and the paid amount and currency match the order. A mismatch puts the order in a review status with a note.

Automatic IPN setup: the notification URL is registered with Pesapal at the first payment, separately for sandbox and live. Nothing has to be set up in the Pesapal dashboard.

No double processing: repeated notifications and a notification arriving together with the customer return never apply a payment twice. Cancelled and refunded orders are never reopened, and a second payment for a paid order or cart is flagged for refund.

Every attempt is remembered: a payment made on an older Pesapal page of the same cart, for example in a second browser tab, is still recognised, and a new attempt first checks the earlier ones.

Sandbox and live modes: separate keys for each mode. A payment is always checked in the mode it was started in.

Your own order statuses: choose the OpenCart status for a paid order, a payment on review, a cancelled order and a reversed payment. A payment that Pesapal reports as reversed sets the paid order to Refunded.

Pesapal tab on the order page: tracking ID, merchant reference, mode, Pesapal status, payment method, confirmation code, all payment attempts and notes. Geo zone, minimum total and sort order of OpenCart. Optional log without keys, tokens or customer data.

Requirements

OpenCart 3.0.x (tested on 3.0.5.0) or OpenCart 4.0.2 and later (tested on 4.1.0.3), PHP 8.0 or later. One download has the packages for both versions. A Pesapal merchant account with the consumer key and consumer secret (sandbox and/or live). Your store must be reachable from the internet to receive payment notifications. Order currency: KES, UGX, TZS, ZMW, RWF or USD. A VibeFox license key from vibefox.net (one key per domain).
