VibeFox PayFast for OpenCart

Overview

VibeFox PayFast Pay Gateway adds PayFast to OpenCart 3 and OpenCart 4 for payments in South African rand. At the last checkout step the customer clicks Confirm Order and is sent to the secure PayFast payment page with a signed payment form, where they pay by card, Instant EFT or another method of your PayFast account. PayFast then confirms the payment to your store with a server-to-server notification (ITN). The order gets a status only after a notification passes all checks, so unpaid attempts stay missing orders.

It suits South African stores that want PayFast's hosted payment page without a card form on their own site. The extension takes one-time payments in ZAR only. It has no refunds from the order page (refund in the PayFast dashboard), no subscriptions, no saved cards and no split payments.

Key features

Signed payment form: the form is signed with your passphrase using the official PayFast algorithm.

Verified notifications: every ITN is checked: signature, your merchant account, the token of the payment attempt, a server-to-server confirmation with PayFast and, in live mode, that it comes from a PayFast server.

Amount check: the paid amount is compared with the order total in cents and the order must be in ZAR. A mismatch puts the order in your on-hold status with a note.

No double processing: repeated notifications never apply a payment twice. Late failed or pending notifications never downgrade a paid order, and a payment for a cancelled order is flagged for review.

Live and sandbox: separate credentials for each mode. Each notification is checked with the credentials of the mode the payment was started in, and a sandbox payment never pays an order while the store is live.

Your own order statuses: choose the OpenCart status for a paid order, a pending payment, a payment on hold and a failed payment.

Nothing to configure in PayFast: the notification URL is sent with every payment and shown on the settings page.

PayFast tab on the order page: payment reference, PayFast payment ID, mode, gross, fee and net amounts and the PayFast notes. Geo zone, minimum total, sort order and an optional debug log.

Requirements

OpenCart 3.0.x (tested on 3.0.5.0) or OpenCart 4.0.2 and later (tested on 4.1.0.3), PHP 8.0 or later. One download has the packages for both versions. The South African rand (ZAR) as a store currency. A PayFast account with the Merchant ID, Merchant Key and passphrase, and sandbox credentials for tests. A store reachable from the internet. A VibeFox license key from vibefox.net (one key per domain).
