VibeFox Helcim for OpenCart

Overview

VibeFox Helcim Gateway adds credit card payments through the Helcim Payment API to OpenCart 3 and OpenCart 4. At the last checkout step the customer enters the card in a form above the Confirm Order button, your server sends it to Helcim, and the order gets its status from Helcim's answer in the same request. Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and UnionPay are accepted, in CAD or USD.

It suits merchants in Canada and the United States with a Helcim account who want a card form directly on their checkout. Card details pass through your web server, so your store needs HTTPS and PCI DSS compliant hosting (SAQ D). The extension has no saved cards, subscriptions, ACH or bank payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay or 3-D Secure, and no Helcim webhooks: captures, refunds and voids made in the Helcim dashboard are not reflected in OpenCart.

Key features

Card form on your checkout: card number, expiry, CVC and cardholder name, checked before sending (card number checksum, expiry not in the past, CVC length).

Purchase or pre-authorization: charge the card at once, or only hold the funds and capture them later with Capture payment in the order tab.

Status only after approval: OpenCart creates the order before the payment, but it gets a status only after Helcim approves the transaction, so a declined card leaves only a missing order. If the approved amount or currency does not match the order, the order goes to your review status with a note.

One charge per cart: parallel submits are locked, a cart that is already paid is never charged again, and every attempt uses an idempotency key, so a retry after a timeout returns the original Helcim result instead of charging the card twice.

Refunds from the order page: full and partial refunds in the VibeFox Helcim Gateway tab of the order, up to the amount Helcim actually charged. An uncaptured pre-authorization is released in full.

Live and test tokens: separate API tokens for your live and test Helcim accounts. Captures and refunds always use the account the order was paid in.

Your own order statuses: choose the OpenCart status for a paid order, a pre-authorization, an order on review, a released pre-authorization and a full refund. Geo zone, minimum total and sort order as in any OpenCart payment method. Error log without card numbers, CVC, tokens or personal data.

Requirements

OpenCart 3.0.x (tested on 3.0.5.0) or OpenCart 4.0.2 and later (tested on 4.1.0.3), PHP 8.0 or later. One download has the packages for both versions. A Helcim merchant account (Canada or United States) and an API token. Checkout currency CAD or USD. HTTPS on your store and PCI DSS compliant hosting. A VibeFox license key from vibefox.net (one key per domain).
