VibeFox Braintree for OpenCart

Overview

VibeFox Braintree Gateway adds credit and debit card payments through Braintree to OpenCart 3 and OpenCart 4. At the last checkout step the customer enters the card in the Braintree Drop-in form, completes 3-D Secure if the bank asks for it and clicks Confirm Order. The card form is served by Braintree, so card data never touches your site. OpenCart creates the order before the payment, but the order gets a status only after Braintree accepts the payment; a declined card leaves it without a status and the customer can try again at once.

It suits stores that have a Braintree account and want card payments on their own checkout page. The extension takes card payments only. It has no saved cards, no subscriptions or recurring payments, no PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay or local payment methods, and no Braintree webhooks.

Key features

Braintree Drop-in on the confirm step: the secure card form loads from Braintree in the customer's language, and only a one-time token is sent to your store.

3-D Secure 2: Enabled, Required (liability shift only) or Disabled. The result is checked on the server before the card is charged.

Sale or authorize only: charge at once, or reserve the amount and capture or void it later from the order page.

Amount and currency check: the charged amount and currency are compared with the order. A mismatch is voided automatically, so the customer is not charged.

Never charged twice: a second submit or a repeated confirm does not charge the order again. If the card was charged but the status could not be set, the next attempt of the same session completes that order without a new charge.

Refunds, capture and void from the order page: full and partial refunds in the VibeFox Braintree Gateway tab of the order. Before settlement a full refund is done as a void.

Sandbox and live: separate credentials and merchant accounts per environment, and a merchant account per currency. Captures, voids and refunds always use the environment of the payment.

Your own order statuses: choose the OpenCart status for a paid order, an authorization, a payment on review, a void and a full refund. Geo zone, minimum total and sort order. Log without API keys, card or customer data.

Requirements

OpenCart 3.0.x (tested on 3.0.5.0) or OpenCart 4.0.2 and later (tested on 4.1.0.3), PHP 8.0 or later. One download has the packages for both versions. A Braintree account with its Merchant ID, Public Key and Private Key; 3-D Secure enabled for the account unless you turn it off. A VibeFox license key from vibefox.net (one key per domain).
